  The Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of 1994, also known as Republic Act No. 7836, was enacted to strengthen the regulation and supervision of the practice of teaching in the Philippines and prescribe a licensure examination for teachers 1 .  The Act was passed on December 16, 1994 2 .  Some key provisions of the Act include: Licensure Examination : All applicants for registration as professional teachers are required to undergo a written licensure examination 3 .  The examination consists of two parts for elementary school teachers and three parts for secondary school teachers, covering professional education, general education, and field of specialization 3 .
